How IS 1554 testing works
- Tell us the purpose. BIS certification, a tender, a customer requirement or a design check. The purpose decides which clauses and which laboratory.

- Send samples. We help with labels, the test request and any technical documents the tests need.
- Testing and report. Tests are carried out under NABL accreditation and the report lists each clause, the requirement and the result.
- Review and use. We check the report before you submit it to BIS, a tender authority or your customer, and help if they raise a query.

Which IS 1554 tests are NABL accredited?
All 69 tests listed on this page are within NABL accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025), each against the clause of IS 1554 shown next to it. The report carries the NABL accreditation mark for these tests.
Can the IS 1554 test report be used for BIS certification?
Yes. Testing to IS 1554 is available at a BIS-recognised laboratory, so the report can be submitted with a BIS application. BIS may still draw its own samples during the factory inspection.
How many samples are needed for IS 1554 testing?
