How IS 16246 testing works
- Tell us the purpose. BIS certification, a tender, a customer requirement or a design check. The purpose decides which clauses and which laboratory.
- Get the sample list and quote. We confirm the tests, the number of samples and the timeline for your product and its variants.
- Send samples. We help with labels, the test request and any technical documents the tests need.
- Testing and report. Tests are carried out under NABL accreditation and the report lists each clause, the requirement and the result.
- Review and use. We check the report before you submit it to BIS, a tender authority or your customer, and help if they raise a query.
Frequently asked questions
Which IS 16246 tests are NABL accredited?
All 32 tests listed on this page are within NABL accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025), each against the clause of IS 16246 shown next to it. The report carries the NABL accreditation mark for these tests.
Can the IS 16246 test report be used for BIS certification?
BIS accepts reports only from laboratories it has recognised for the standard. Before testing, we confirm which laboratory your BIS application needs, so you do not pay for a report BIS will not accept.
How many samples are needed for IS 16246 testing?
It depends on the product, its variants and the tests you need. Share the product details and the purpose of the test (BIS, tender or customer) and we will send the sample list and a quote.
Can you test only some clauses of IS 16246?
Yes. For a tender, a customer complaint or a design check, we can test selected clauses. For BIS certification or a type test, every applicable clause has to be covered.
