Overhead Line Hardware Testing

NABL-accredited testing of overhead line hardware: suspension, tension and anchoring clamps, insulation piercing connectors, joints, sleeves, armour rods and insulator fittings, to IS 2121, IS 2486, BS EN 50483, BS EN 50397 and NF C 33 standards.

Independent private consultancy. Aaditech is not BIS or any government department and is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. Licences are granted only by the authority, and you can apply directly on its portal. Our consultancy fees are separate from official fees.

Distribution utilities buying LT aerial bunched cable (ABC) and covered conductor networks ask for accredited reports on every accessory in the line, not just the conductor. Accredited tests cover tensile, slip and breaking-load tests at ambient, low and high temperature, electrical, climatic and corrosion ageing, dielectric voltage and water-tightness tests, heating cycle and electrical resistance, crimping ability, shear-head function, galvanizing and marking.

Conductor and earthwire accessories for overhead power lines, such as mid-span joints, repair sleeves, armour rods and binding wire, are tested to IS 2121, and metal fittings of insulators to IS 2486.

Who it's for

  • Manufacturers of ABC and covered conductor accessories
  • Suppliers of clamps, connectors and joints to state utilities and discoms
  • EPC contractors on distribution network and RDSS projects

How it works

  1. Share the product and the purpose: BIS certification, a tender, a customer or export.
  2. Get the test plan. We list the standard, clauses, number of samples, cost and timeline.
  3. Send samples with the test request and technical documents.
  4. Receive the NABL accredited report, reviewed by us before you submit it.

Frequently asked questions

Which ABC accessories can be tested?

Suspension and tension clamps, anchoring clamps, insulation piercing connectors, pre-insulated joint sleeves and terminal lugs, to BS EN 50483 and the NF C 33-020, 33-021, 33-040 and 33-041 standards. Accessories for covered conductors are tested to BS EN 50397.

Do you test to IS 2121 and IS 2486?

Yes. Mid-span joints, repair sleeves, armour rods, binding wires and tapes are tested to IS 2121, and metal fittings of insulators for overhead lines to IS 2486, within NABL accreditation.
