Metal & Alloy Testing

NABL-accredited chemical analysis and mechanical testing of carbon and alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium, copper and zinc alloys, including spark OES analysis, tensile, hardness, impact and metallography.

Independent private consultancy. Aaditech is not BIS or any government department and is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. Licences are granted only by the authority, and you can apply directly on its portal. Our consultancy fees are separate from official fees.

Chemical composition is measured by spark optical emission spectrometry and wet methods to IS 8811, IS 9879, IS 228, IS 11035 and IS 2599, and to ASTM E415, E1086, E1999, E1251 and EN 15079: carbon, sulphur, phosphorus, manganese, silicon, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, copper and other elements.

Mechanical tests cover tensile strength, yield or proof stress and elongation, bend, Brinell, Rockwell and Vickers hardness, Charpy and Izod impact, and mass per metre, on structural steel, TMT bars, tubes and steel wire, to IS 1608, IS 1786, IS 1599, IS 1500 and ASTM A370. Metallography covers microstructure, grain size, inclusion rating, decarburisation and case depth.

Who it's for

  • Steel, TMT bar, tube and wire manufacturers under BIS certification
  • Foundries and fabricators verifying material grades
  • Buyers and EPC contractors checking supplied lots against mill certificates
  • Aluminium, copper and zinc product makers

How it works

  1. Share the product and the purpose: BIS certification, a tender, a customer or export.
  2. Get the test plan. We list the standard, clauses, number of samples, cost and timeline.
  3. Send samples with the test request and technical documents.
  4. Receive the NABL accredited report, reviewed by us before you submit it.

Frequently asked questions

Can you test TMT bars and structural steel?

Yes. Tensile strength, proof stress, elongation, bend test, mass per metre and chemical composition are within NABL accreditation, along with ASTM A370 methods for steel products.

Which metals can be analysed chemically?

Carbon and low alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium and its alloys, copper and its alloys, and zinc and its alloys.

Other NABL testing categories

See the NABL testing service for how we work. Tests listed are within NABL accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025).

Not sure which certification your product needs?

Talk to a team led by former BIS Directors. We'll map every approval your product needs before you spend on testing.
